Grethe Wittrock is a Halcyon Fellow from the 2016 Studios Program. Her work, ‘Fire & Ice’ with a focus on sustainability issues, was included in the Ward 12 Exhibition at Halcyon House in December 2016.

Grethe is one of Denmark´s most talented and internationally renowned fiber artists. She studied printmaking at Kyoto Seika University in Japan and holds a graduate degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited throughout the world and she has won numerous international awards, including multiple grants from the Danish Art Foundation. Her most recent sculptural installations consist of bird-like constructions made from recycled sails. At S&R Artist Studios, Grethe focused on sustainability issues, creating a project that involving wood and textiles as media and combining ancient Japanese techniques with modern Nordic design practices.
