Misty Copeland electrified the ballet world in 2015 when she and The Washington Ballet’s, Brooklyn Mack became the first African-American dancers in history to perform the leading roles in Swan Lake together at any major ballet company in the world. Two months later she made history again, becoming the first African American woman to be named Principal Dancer of American Ballet Theatre. In this intimate and candid conversation Copeland shares her story, retracing her steps from tough childhood to superstardom, having overcome immense hurdles with grace and elegance, and emerging as one of the most influential ballerinas on the world stage today.
