"Put the 'I' Into C_vic ". You complete the art work. In this season of constant political questioning, local artist Linda Hesh, presents us with a way to voice our opinions.
This interactive public artwork consists of 6 foot high turquoise blue letters that spell “C_vic.” The “i” is purposely missing so that you can pose for a photo standing in the artwork to Put the “I” into C_vic. This art asks us to think about what we expect from our government or what the government should expect from us.
Linda Hesh combines the personal and political playing with taboos and challenging social norms. Text and a multitude of materials comprise her interactive public artworks and exhibition pieces. Recently she traveled her interactive “Thinking of You...Climate Change” across America. Her public pieces have been installed in Saint Petersberg,Russia; New York; Chicago; Washington DC and Haarlem, the Netherlands. Americans for the Arts awarded her for Community Engagement and Social Activism. The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Boing Boing and the Huffington Post have featured Hesh’s art. Public collections holding her work include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Kinsey Institute, and the Library of Congress.
