Megan Merchant is an advocate for equity in the arts and strives to provide accessible programming for intergenerational audiences. As Program Coordinator she develops and manages the Halcyon Arts Lab Youth Fellowship, a program created to engage youth seeking to catalyze change through art and creative innovation. Megan also assists the Halcyon Arts Lab Program Manager in the programmatic execution of the Halcyon Arts Lab Fellowship program and events at the Halcyon Arts Lab.

In addition to the Halcyon Arts Lab, Megan manages the development and programmatic execution of By the People, a movement dedicated to connecting people across divides through art and dialogue. This international festival celebrates our nation’s founding principles and the impact of shared moments. By the People brings people together by creating free, inclusive experiences designed to celebrate our diverse perspectives and understand our strength in unity.

Prior to joining Halcyon, Megan was the Education and Community Programs Manager for Washington Performing Arts, a presenting organization that creates profound opportunities to connect community and artists in the D.C. Metropolitan area. As program manager, Megan oversaw music competitions, master classes, community performances, social engagements, in-school partnership programs, summer camps, and an annual Family Arts Fair.

In addition to her work at Halcyon, Megan serves as a committee member for the Arts Administrators of Color DMV Network helping to provide equity and inclusion in the arts for arts managers and artists in the Washington, D.C. area. Megan has a B.A. in Dance from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in Arts Management from George Mason University.
