Monica Jahan Bose is a Halcyon Fellow from the 2016 Studios Program. Her work, ‘1.5 Degrees’ exploring the effects of climate change, was included in the Ward 12 Exhibition in at Halcyon House in December 2016.  

Monica is a Bangladeshi-American artist, lawyer, and activist. Her paintings, works on paper, videos, performances, and installations are symbolic narratives, addressing gender, women's literacy and sexuality, and climate change. She moves strategically across media and disciplines – often incorporating research, science, and policy into her work -- to address complex issues and engage diverse audiences.  Since 2012, she has been engaged in an interdisciplinary social practice project called STORYTELLING WITH SARIS, in collaboration with women from her ancestral village in Bangladesh, an island community threatened by climate change.
