Nicole Weissman, Halcyon’s Director of Communications, crafts the organization’s message, champions its brand, manages its presence online and in the media, and elevates the great work going on across programs. She brings almost a decade of nonprofit communications experience to the goal of growing the range of audiences taking an interest in creativity, entrepreneurship, and the tools that help innovators succeed.
Before joining Halcyon, Nicole managed communications for the Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center, promoting thought leadership opportunities for researchers and leading the dissemination of a range of research products on policing, incarceration, trafficking, gun violence, and criminal justice reform.
Earlier in her career, Nicole spent years in nonprofit consulting, first in the social impact practice of a large communications firm, where she executed communications strategies on behalf of nonprofits, foundations, and corporate responsibility clients, and later as a nonprofit strategist developing and executing projects on behalf of the Smithsonian, Greenpeace, the National Air and Space Museum, and Perception Institute.
A native Washingtonian, Nicole boasts a local karaoke championship and a budding social media celebrity status at the intersection of nachos and DC sporting events.
