While an undergraduate at Notre Dame and president of the university’s Muslim Student Association, Sara became dedicated to understanding how immigrants and refugees integrate into their host communities. She researched the integration of immigrant families in Italy by conducting qualitative interviews with Egyptian families living in northern Italy. After graduation, Sara researched how the Greek education system can most effectively incorporate refugee students as part of her Fulbright Scholar in Athens. Sara is passionate about promoting justice and equality for refugees and displaced people, and she’s excited to do her part through Tables Without Borders.
