Tariq O'Meally

Tariq Darrell O’Meally was born in Queens, New York and raised in the DMV. He earned his BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has worked and performed with Johnnie Cruise Mercer/The RED Project NYC, VT Dance, Ashani Dances, in addition to Abby Z & the New Utility. As a choreographer, his work has been presented at The John F. Kennedy Center, The Clarice Smith 34th and 35th Annual Choreographer’s Showcase, the 15th Annual Mid-Atlantic Choreographer Showcase, the Richmond Dance Festival, and the Mid-Atlantic North Gala at the American College Dance Association. As an educator, he has taught at Hollins University, Coppin State University, and Morgan State University. Tariq is Dance Place’s 2017-2018 New Releases Commissioned Artist. He is a 2018-2019 Joe’s Movement Emporium NextLOOK Artist. He is the artistic director of the Tariq Darrell + UNUM Dance Collective.
